Spot guide

Qijin Beach is a WSW-facing beach break in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. It picks up swell from S to W, and land, islands, reefs or shallow banks block about 60% of the directions it faces. Offshore wind here blows from the ENE: light winds or ENE breezes usually mean the cleanest surf, while WSW onshores chop it up.

Rare slot: a Babuyan Islands gap lets in swell from 149.5° (SSE) and nothing either side. It only lines up when a storm sits in that exact direction, more than 302 km out. How slot swells work
